Northside Transit Village is public private partnership between Miami-Dade County and Atlantic|Pacific Communities that has transformed an underutilized six-acre surface parking lot at the Northside Metrorail Station (county’s rapid transit system) into a vibrant, urban infill community. The four-phased, mixed-use, affordable housing TOD increases ridership on the Metrorail and offers an opportunity for extremely-low to moderate-income residents to live without the cost burden of a car. Upon completion, it will provide the community with: 600 affordable/workforce homes, parking garage including spaces for transit riders, 20,000 sf of commercial space, and convenient connections between the transit station, parking, and the residential and retail elements. Additionally, there are public bus stops on-site with routes to all major employment areas. The first phase is LEED Silver certified and a USGBC South Florida 2015 Gala Verde Award winner. The second phase, the subject of this application, is Gold LEED V4 BD+C certified.
