Notably, the building has earned LEED Gold certification under the BD&C program, highlighting Penske's focus on sustainability and eco-friendly design principles. The facility boasts a 254kW DC rooftop solar array, with capacity to generate up to 80% of the building's electricity usage. Located near Chicagoland, the opening of this facility has provided over 30 new jobs and demonstrates Pensk's commitment to investing in the local community, associates, and valued customers.
This project, as the first LEED Gold facility in the commercial truck leasing and maintenance space, demonstrates to others in the industry the potential for high building performance development. This project both challenges peers within the local community to optimize operations and serves as a visual example based on the ability to see rooftop PV panels adjacent to the I-55 interstate.
