Project info

United Therapeutics’ (UT) Project Lightyear represents an integrated approach to an exceptional program - focusing environmental, public health, and industry impact throughout its design, construction, and program. UT is committed to addressing patient needs today and cures in the future: to provide a brighter future for patients through the development of novel pharmaceutical therapies and technologies that expand the availability of transplantable organs.

Project Lightyear supports a critical path moment in providing pulmonary medicine to those in need. The facility was designed as a highly efficient and fossil fuel free facility. The project is meant to push the boundaries of energy independence and play a pivotal role in challenging local policy and best practices for renewable energy and microgrids.

As a LEED Gold Warehouse and Distribution Center, the project’s energy-intensive cold-room storage is an exceptional design for an under-represented program type in the green building industry. Building on this achievement, UT is committed to knowledge-sharing with the pharmaceutical and design and construction fields.
