Supermaxi Plaza Batan obtained the LEED GOLD certification for new construction, incorporating strategies for relating to the environment, design and efficient systems that allow it to achieve greater energy efficiency, lower water consumption, lower impact on the environment and better comfort conditions for its users. .

Supermaxi Plaza Batan incorporated stormwater management strategies, tree planting and gardens with native species to recover the tropical forest ecosystem and preserve local fauna, and used high reflectance materials to reduce the heat island effect and temperatures in the environment. .

All the sanitary pieces installed in Supermaxi Plaza Batan are highly efficient pieces, to reduce water consumption by 40% in relation to a conventional supermarket. The project incorporates a wastewater treatment system, for reuse in sanitary pieces in the same building to reduce the use of drinking water by 80% and thus discharge clean water, reducing the impact on the environment and municipal systems.

Supermaxi Plaza Batan achieved a 20% reduction in energy consumption compared to a similar building thanks to all the efficient strategies and systems that were part of the project.

Through the use of diffuser skylights with thermal insulation, Kalwall, and through the use of solar refraction tubes, Solatube, the maximum use of natural lighting was achieved, reducing the need for lighting inside the premises.  Advanced high-performance LED lighting systems, combined with natural input measurement controls, dim the lights inside the premises to reduce consumption, maintaining optimal conditions at all times.

The air conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems are the most efficient systems available, with control of refrigerant use and verification of interior air injection to maintain the best thermal conditions inside the premises, achieving energy efficiency.  Furthermore, the supermarket refrigeration systems are Co2 Transcritical systems, using CO2 as refrigerant reducing the ozone depletion and environmental footprint of the building, while also reducing energy use in refrigeration by 10%.

Supermaxi Plaza Batan was designed to achieve the best conditions of thermal and visual comfort for users, guaranteeing comfortable temperatures and adequate air renewal to keep the building and its occupants healthy.

Mechanical ventilation allowed for complete cleaning and air renewal of the premises prior to occupation, to eliminate contaminants and operate every day to maintain ideal conditions inside the premises.

Supermaxi Plaza Batan, through all these strategies and incorporated systems, contributes to the community by showing how our built spaces can reduce the environmental impact on our planet.
