Makro Floridablanca Project is part of a company called SHV, founded in 1896, today SHV is a “holding”, which is an enterprise with different types of companies, business and missions. MAKRO is one of them, and it is a company dedicated to the food industry, having more than 1000 stores in 9 different countries. As part of the Social and Environmental concerns in the world, MAKRO decided to continue certifying projects under LEED parameters in Latin America, searching for sustainable strategies that can be applied in the area where these are being built, to improve the way buildings are constructed, and achieving less environmentally harmful impacts. The project is located at “Floridablanca” at Bucaramanga at the Santander Department of Colombia, at the “Anillo Vial Km 2 Lote Galicia” address, making the location of Makro Puente Aranda a strategic place because of the connections that the road permits. As part of the Social and Environmental policies of the company, Makro identified the need for using sustainable design and construction parameters for its retail projects. For that reason, Makro decided to develop its new retail project Makro Floridablanca seeking a LEED certification for New Construction v2009. According to default calculations, the project will have 131 full-time employees and expects 626 visitors a day. The project includes an air conditioning system for the store consisting of direct expansion split type packages, variable airflow configuration and multiple compression stages to handle the different cooling loads, the packages are connected to the duct network and grids to supply air to the area. For the treatment and recovery of air, an energy recovery unit is included. Lighting system for Makro Floridablanca follows the local regulation for lighting and public lighting (Reglamento Técnico de Iluminación y Alumbrado Público) RETILAP and LEED requirements. Interior lighting is comprised of LED technology, saving up to 65% power against the ASHRAE 90.1- 2007 Standard baseline. The electrical system was designed according to the Colombian standard for electrical systems (Código Eléctrico Colombiano) NTC 2050 and the local electrical regulation (Reglamento Técnico de Instalaciones Electricas) RETIE. These standards define the correction factors for grouping and brownouts by distance, sizing the drivers, in addition to its current capacity and the supply voltages 480/208/120 v.
